We are searching for a new logo, bootsplash-images and backgrounds. So we decided to start a graphics contest.
We split the Contest into 3 main parts:
Logo
The logo should stay in combination with the zaurus and open-source. We would like to use that logo on website. 224 colors version would be nice bonus for usage as kernel booting logo.
Bootsplash
Two different orientations of the logo should be created: a landscape one and a portait one. SVG templates are available from the following links:
landscape portrait
Background
It would be nice if the same background could be used on all devices, so different sizes are needed. Sending one size is allowed - other sizes can be created after contest.
Needed sizes:
- 640×640 for VGA devices
- 640×480 for VGA landscape
- 480×640 for VGA portait
- 240×320 for QVGA portrait
320×240 for QVGA landscape will be nice but not required
Mail your images to openzaurus-users mailing list .
Rules
Graphics should stay in combination with the Zaurus and OpenSource.
Allowed formats: SVG, XCF or PNG.
Graphics should be provided on any OSI approved license (GPL/LGPL/BSD are one of them).
Deadline: 1st April 2006.

OpenZaurus is pleased to announce that 2.6 kernels for the C1000 (Akita), C3000 (Spitz) and C3100 (Borzoi) are now extremely usable and nearly fully featured.
In summary, all the above devices should boot and the only missing functionality is Sound, USB Client (USB Host works) and LED support. The current kernel status is (as always) detailed at my website. The remaining functionality should be straightforward to implement and just needs someone to spend time on it.
At this time, it is unknown whether OZ 3.5.4 will ship with a 2.6 kernel as standard. It is likely to be available as an option.

Recently we got many users registered - thats great. They want to contribute to the OZ project and I want to say that documentation would be a good way to help out.
On OESF forum we have dedicated subforum where few threads started to get some docs collected:
Many users complain that installation guides are not good, that they lack some infos etc - we need someone who will look more into them and atleast reformat them to look similiar (instruction for 5600 is nice formatted).
