Mirror changes

OpenZaurus team November 15th, 2005

As many of you noticed openzaurus.org is slow. Few days a go mirror was created here - it should be much faster.

In next few days it will be main feed location as we have to free space on SourceForge server.

And this breaks the 3.5.3 package system… is there any ipkg feed configuration file anywhere ?

If you’re running Qtopia just go to “Software Packages”, then “File” and then “settings”. In the pop-up window add the new URL.

Might as well delete the old ones while you are there :-)

Any other setup just need to have the URL for the feed updated by whatever mechanism it got its original URL, I would assume.

I was wondering what the typical bandwidth usage/storage space is for a mirror site of OpenZaurus?

I also notice that the feed/machine/spitz isn’t on all the mirrors.

Is there any reason for this?

Broderick: 3.5.3 takes 830M on disc. Bandwidth usage is unknown to me - depends how much users will switch to mirror because by default we provide only main mirror in config.

And I don’t know why not all is mirrored. We have to discuss with mirror admins to create new mirror policy, select mirror tools. I will start discussion on openzaurus-devel mailing list soon about it.
