2.6 Kernels for C1000, C3000 and C3100

Richard 'RP' Purdie September 28th, 2005

OpenZaurus is pleased to announce that 2.6 kernels for the C1000 (Akita), C3000 (Spitz) and C3100 (Borzoi) are now extremely usable and nearly fully featured.

In summary, all the above devices should boot and the only missing functionality is Sound, USB Client (USB Host works) and LED support. The current kernel status is (as always) detailed at my website. The remaining functionality should be straightforward to implement and just needs someone to spend time on it.

At this time, it is unknown whether OZ 3.5.4 will ship with a 2.6 kernel as standard. It is likely to be available as an option.

Well… are these 2.6 kernels available in standard OZ packages ? or do we have to install them in a special way…

Awesome! Any chance we can get a sneak peak to test the image? I guess 3.5.4 is right around the corner at this point, but I’d love to start playing sooner than later.

Many thanks for all the hard work you and others have done to bring 2.6 to the Cxx00 machines! I am very much hoping to be able to use it with OZ 3.5.4, which will hopefully also be ready soon ;)

Great news!!! I can’t wait to put OZ 3.5.4 onto my Spitz with kernel 2.6 and GPE. Alas, it is time I got the best out of this little machine.
